Baboons, Addiction and the Murdoch Empire

I wrote a piece in today’s Daily Telegraph Online. It has generated a pretty wide response. Rupert Murdoch has seemed so gentle and affable in today’s and yesterday’s testimony, yet he has been such an awful force in degrading public discourse through his cheapening of the press in the UK and elsewhere. Yet perhaps he, long before anyone else, foresaw the demise of newspapers and the dominance of broadcast journalism. But what a cost we have paid, as the current corruption in British public life demonstrates.
